We recommend you to enjoy this website neat, on a large screen, as it loses some of its peaty taste when browsed on a mobile device.

Graphic design and multimedia communication, full-bodied and judiciously peated. We will distill your full graphic identity, from your tiny pretty logo to the annoying advertisement PVC banner you'll need in this weak economy.

Websites, videos, photography, music editing, eating disorders, graphic design, hedge funds: that's everything we like.

This is Filippo Gander, Master Distiller:
Born and raised by the right combination of sun and exhaust fumes Southern Ticino offers most of the year, he moved to Lausanne for a degree in Social Sciences almost 20 years ago.

But a Master Degree in social sciences doesn't give you a job. A hidden passion for creative stuff and the playful trajectories of life generated the odd combination that – after many year of practice and ethical struggling – allowed him to call himself a graphic designer.

CONVERGENCE is a super complicated and super technical research project. I mean, just look at their tagline: "Frictionless Energy Efficient Convergent Wearables for Healthcare and Lifestyle Applications". The this if: either you're super strong in nanotechnologies and related things, or you get lost in what they do. Nevertheless, we were able to develop a solid visual identity very much liked by the researchers.

The logo takes the project name to the letter and is made up by 9 line converging to the center of the O. The same ideas applies also to the icon, where the lines converge to a capital C.

The keywords behind the cold blue and green gradient and general color palette would be technology and low-energy.

IMPRiND is a consortium of European universities, pharmaceuticals companies and SME which aims at better targeting the first phase of neurodegenerative diseases, in order to find more effective treatments.

For the visual identity we wanted to give a clear visual clue that we were dealing with degenerative diseases (as the project name is no evocative per se), without being to literal and "scary".

We started from a coronal section of the brain, where the left hemisphere is still intact while the right one is gently disintegrating.

The turquoise and pink/coral palette helps giving a positive image on the whole identity.
Stacks Image p712_n57
Again for the project flyer, we wanted to give a visual clue that we were dealing with dementia, this time in a more abstract way: we did an illustration made by a series of paint stroke that started more or less evenly and kind of mixes up (degenerates" towards the end).

Bonseyes is an interaction European project funded under the European Commission Seventh Framework programme.

As the project itself says: "Bonseyes is an open and expandable AI platform. It will transform AI development from a cloud centric model, dominated by large internet companies, to an edge device centric model through a marketplace and an open AI platform."

The Bonseyes logo revolves around the icon which represent a "high tech" bonsai tree where the bushy part is replaced by an "electronic" brain, representing the Artificial Intelligence part of the project.

To present the Bonseyes project at conferences a an A5 flyer has been developed. The flyers contained basic information regarding the project and its partners and showcases several illustrations we developed.

The main illustration (also featured on the website) is an allegory of the artificial intelligence marketplace (the key element of the project) where androids freely exchange algorithms and data, as opposed to big monolythical corporations, which function as a closed circuit behind their big walls.
Stacks Image p411_n122
Our first exploration for the illustration was very detailed and playfully looking. We decided to simplify it by taking the focus far away and trying to give more accent to the difference between the "open" marketplace and the "closed" big corporations.

In 2016, the Swiss electors had to choose if they want to dig a second road tunnel through the Gotthard massive, to ease traffic jams on the north-south axis across Europe.

In the same year, the longest railroad tunnel in the whole World was opened: the Gotthard basis tunnel – with its 57.1km — made crossing the Alps by train almost an hour shorter. One of its main goal was to transfer part of the traffic form the road to the rail.

That's why some Swiss were opposed to this project and succeeded in forcing the government to a referendum.

This website tries to explain that one of the main reason behind this project (building a second tunnel not to isolate Ticino – the only Swiss State south of the Alps) was not a valid one, as a lots of inhabitants were actually oppose to the building of the second tunnel, due do the huge increase of triassic jams generated by people crossing Switzerland on the north-south axis.
Stacks Image p780_n57
The one-page website was aimed at German– and French–speaking parts of Switzerland and was therefore in two languages. An illustration was made for each of the 6 reason given to vote agains the second road tunnel.

In Switzerland, military service is mandatory for youth males. They have to take approximately a half year to do their service when they become major, at the age of 18. The basic idea behind CH-X — Swiss Federal Surveys of Adolescent, is to use this huge amount of persons as sample for scientific surveys.

We did the book layout for the 23rd volume of this series of publication, "Suisse – Société multiculturelle. Du point de vue des jeunes d'aujourd'hui".

The Ganasa Team is an inline hockey team that plays in local amateur tournaments around Ticino. Truth be told, is the team were I play as a goalie and more than a team, is a great groups of awesome people.

We designed the logos and had the chance to design the jerseys we use during the games, as well as the t-shirt and other apparel we like to wear, as if we were a professional team.

It's actually something we like a lot when doing design works: it doesn't matter if you are the best team in a professional league or a group of friends in an amateur league that struggles winning a single game (it's not our case): design should always look professional.
